Comprehensive Care That Honors Your Pet's Natural Healing Ability

Our Goal Is To Help Every Patient Enjoy A Long, Healthy, And Happy Life.

As an integrative practice, our clinic is equipped and staffed to provide a full range of veterinary care, blending both conventional and alternative therapies. We understand that each patient is unique, and we take the time to get to know them at every stage of life. Alternative treatments may be used on their own or alongside conventional care for most conditions. Each case is evaluated individually, and treatment choices are made in partnership with you, based on your preferences and your animal’s specific needs.

During each visit, we conduct a thorough physical exam, review your animal’s diet, supplements, and medications, and take the time to address any concerns you may have. If a health issue is present, we’ll recommend appropriate diagnostic testing and review the available treatment options.

General Medicine

When your animal isn’t feeling well, we begin with a thorough physical examination and recommend any necessary diagnostic tests. Based on our findings, we’ll discuss treatment options with you—offering a plan that includes both conventional and alternative therapies. Our goal is to fully understand the underlying issue and then choose the gentlest, most effective methods to support your animal’s lasting health and comfort.

Urgent Care

We do our best to reserve time in our daily schedule to accommodate unexpected illnesses or injuries in our established patients during regular business hours. However, once our schedule is full for the day—or if your pet’s condition is urgent or severe—we may recommend seeking care at a nearby emergency or urgent care clinic to ensure your animal receives the timely attention they need. Please see our Resources page for a list of local urgent care hospitals.

Nutritional Counseling

Good health begins with good nutrition. For over 30 years, Dr. Hassinger has closely observed the strong connection between excellent nutrition and overall well-being in her patients. Some types of food may contribute to health issues like obesity, chronic illness, or even cancer.

At Wolf Rock, we’re passionate about helping clients explore nourishing options beyond the basics, including home-cooked meals, raw diets, and high-quality commercial foods. We’ll work with you to choose a feeding plan that fits both your animal’s needs and your lifestyle. In addition, we often recommend carefully selected supplements to support specific medical conditions and enhance overall vitality.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points along the body’s natural energetic pathways to help restore balance, regulate organ function, and support overall healing. It can be beneficial for a wide variety of conditions, including arthritis, disc disease, digestive disorders, allergies, kidney disease, and immune system challenges. This gentle, non-invasive therapy is especially useful when conventional treatments are limited, ineffective, or come with significant side effects. Most dogs and cats respond well and often relax during sessions. For those sensitive to needles, we also offer laser acupuncture as a needle-free alternative.

Animal Chiropractic

Chiropractic treatment helps to restore the mobility and function to the joints of the spine and extremities. This helps to improve the neurologic connections that control posture, mobility and organ function. In veterinary medicine, Animal Chiropractic is often used as a complementary therapy for spinal pain, intervertebral disc disease, performance issues in the athlete, postural improvements, immune disorders, and specific organ dysfunctions. Before any adjustment, a thorough examination is conducted, including neurological evaluation, gait analysis, and palpation to identify areas of restriction.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine has been used to treat both animals and humans for thousands of years and forms the foundation of much of modern pharmaceutical science. Many conventional medications are derived from, or inspired by, plant compounds that herbalists have long relied on. While modern medicine often isolates and synthesizes these compounds, herbalists believe that using herbs in their more complete, natural form offers greater safety and a deeper, more balanced healing effect.

Herbal formulas, carefully crafted by knowledgeable practitioners, combine multiple plants in ways that enhance their therapeutic effects while minimizing side effects. These blends can gently support healing, restore balance, and promote overall well-being. Herbal medicine can be used to treat a wide range of conditions, as well as for preventive care and long-term health maintenance. When selected and prescribed thoughtfully, herbs can offer profound benefits for both dogs and cats.

Homeopathic Medicine

Homeopathy is a form of natural medicine that uses highly diluted preparations of herbs, minerals, or animal-derived substances, created through a precise method of dilution and succussion. The goal is to gently stimulate the body’s own healing response. In homeopathy, treatment is tailored to the unique characteristics of each patient— the remedy is selected based on how the illness presents in that individual. For example, whether symptoms improve or worsen with cold, heat, movement, or time of day can all influence the choice of remedy. Veterinary homeopathy has been used successfully to help treat a wide range of conditions. It is especially valuable in cases involving behavioral concerns or illnesses that arise following grief, trauma, neglect, or abuse. It can also be used for first aid in acute illness and injuries. When thoughtfully applied, it offers a gentle, individualized path to healing.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy works by delivering specific wavelengths of light deep into the tissues, where it stimulates the cells’ natural healing processes. This light energy boosts cellular activity, improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and relieves pain — all without medication or invasive procedures.

Studies have shown that laser therapy can help with muscle and joint healing, wound repair, and both acute and chronic pain management. Many pets experience noticeable relief after just a few treatments, making it an excellent option for conditions like arthritis, injuries, surgical recovery, and more. Treatments are painless, quick, and well-tolerated — your pet may simply relax and enjoy the gentle warmth of the laser as it works.

Kind Words From Clients

Your Questions About Our Approach

What makes us different?

Do you only use natural treatments?

Not always, we believe in using the best of both worlds. While we prefer natural approaches when possible, we fully utilize conventional medications and treatments when they’re needed. Each case is evaluated individually.

Are alternative therapies considered to be acceptable in Veterinary medicine in the United States?

The AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) supports integrative veterinary medicine, which combines conventional and CAVM approaches. They acknowledge the growing interest in and use of complementary and alternative veterinary medicine (CAVM) alongside traditional veterinary practices. CAVM includes practices like acupuncture, herbal medicine, chiropractic, and homeopathy, which may be used as complementary therapies alongside conventional treatments or as alternative therapies in place of conventional methods.

How long are appointments typically?

Our standard appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, with 45 minute appointments scheduled for new patients and 60-90 minutes for those with chronic conditions. This gives us time to properly assess your pet and discuss all treatment options.

Do you accept emergency cases?

We keep room in our daily schedule for the urgent care needs of our current patients. In the event that these appointments are already filled when you contact us, we may need to refer you to a local urgent care practice. We are not able to provide emergency care for animals that are not current and established patients.
